Parents and teachers alike will tell you procrastination is a bad idea, but at the same time, you can always learn that lesson another day. Today, there’s still time to kick back, relax and leave those problems for Future You to deal with. Well, unless you were planning to buy a new Ram 1500 Classic before Stellantis sent it to the great Costco parking lot in the sky. The Drive reports that production ended without an official announcement last Friday, so if you want one, you better get there before they’re all gone.
Now, it’s not like we didn’t know the Ram 1500 Classic was going to get Kristi Noem’d soon. Back in August, a Ram spokesperson said the company planned to stop building the truck but would continue to sell it until some point in 2025. In addition to the announcement that the Ram Classic would soon go away, there’s also the fact that we’re talking about a truck that should have disappeared in 2019 when Ram began selling the next-generation 1500. This thing has been in production since 2008.
Remember when Obama was inaugurated? Ram had already been building the truck currently known as the Ram 1500 Classic for several months before he was even sworn in. It isn’t just old — it’s old old.
Two months after the announcement, production has come to a stop. Once the current inventory runs out, Ram will no longer sell its previous-generation full-size pickup truck alongside the current one. Or at least that particular previous generation. There’s nothing in the rulebook that says Ram can’t repeat the same thing with the current-generation 1500. For all we know, you’ll still be able to buy the same truck in 20 years that you can buy today. What we do know is that there’s only a limited supply of brand-new 16-year-old Ram Classics, and if you want one, it’s only a matter of time before they’re all gone.
