Australian bootmaker R.M. Williams is headed to Scotland.
According to the company, it will open its first Scottish store in Edinburgh at 107 George Street, between Charlotte Square and St. Andrew Square, on Thursday, Jan. 22.
Situated within the former ESPC building in the heart of Edinburgh’s city center, the new store was designed by ACRD, the Melbourne-based design studio.
The company noted that its new Edinburgh store, which will mark the first retail opening for the brand in 2026, will offer expert boot fitting, ongoing repair and restoration processes, complimentary boot polishing, plus embossing or debossing to personalize purchases.
Conceived as a craft space, the store will also offer insight into R.M. Williams’ approach to making, highlighting materials, construction and finishing details, and reinforcing the brand’s belief in physical retail as a place for craftsmanship, service and storytelling, the company said.
Karl Wederell, general manager of R.M. Williams UK and Europe, said in a statement that customers from Scotland, and Edinburgh in particular, have supported the brand for many years.

“So strategically, it feels right to be opening our first Scottish store in the heart of the city on George Street,” Wederell noted. “We build for wear and longevity. Similarly, Scottish industry has a heritage rooted in craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and pride in work that endures. Our customers here recognize that consideration and they expect it. Our first Scottish store is a focused response to a loyal community that values enduring design and real workmanship.”
The news comes after R.M. Williams celebrated the opening of a second workshop at its site in Adelaide’s northern suburbs in Australia.
Opened in October, the new 215,000-square-foot facility takes R.M. Williams’ manufacturing and distribution footprint in Adelaide to 317,000-square-feet, almost twice the size of Adelaide Oval.
The new facility, which increases production capacity by 90 percent since Tattarang acquired R.M. Williams five years ago, is located alongside the Frost Road bootmaking site – the home of R.M.Williams since 1972.
The final stage of the expansion will see the company’s distribution center relocated to the same site, bringing manufacturing and distribution together under one roof.
