Quentin Johnston injury update: How to handle the Chargers WR vs. Jaguars in Week 11

The 7-3 Los Angeles Chargers will travel across the country to take on the 5-4 Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday in the early game window. They’ve won three in a row and sit in second place in the AFC West, with the Broncos ahead of them and the Chiefs behind, two teams they’ve beaten this year. With the Broncos and Chiefs playing this week and a winnable game against the Jaguars, they’ll need to come out of this weekend victorious.

They got good news from the MRI done on rookie TE Oronde Gadsden’s leg, and he will be a full go this week. Receiver Quentin Johnston did suffer a shin injury in Week 10, which has now left him as questionable.

Quentin Johnston injury updates

Johnston must have suffered his shin injury against the Steelers last week, as he was limited in their first practice of this week. He remained limited all week, but never missed a practice. At this point it appears he will be okay, but keep an eye on reports.

Fantasy football analysis

Johnston started the season white hot in fantasy and looked very much like the No. 1 receiver on the team. But as most expected, Ladd McConkey eventually moved back ahead of him in the pecking order. Then rookie Gadsden stepped up and became a target Justin Herbert and company couldn’t ignore. Overall, veteran slot receiver Keenan Allen has taken the biggest cut in snaps, keeping Johnston as a full time starter. Now there are just too many mouths to feed to feel confident about Johnston putting up consistent numbers. He has remained a fantasy play on a good offense, but nowhere near what he was early in the season.

If he were to miss, rookie Tre Harris would likely see a bump, but in the end Gadsden and McConkey would just become smash plays in a good matchup. If he does play, he is a start due to the Jaguars positive matchup.
