Queen Mathilde Wears Blue Monochrome Look in Meer Couture and More

Queen Mathilde of Belgium bundled up on Sunday in a monochrome navy blue look comprised of pieces by Meer Couture, among other designers, for the inaugural mass of Gudula26, commemorating the 800th anniversary of the Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula in Brussels.

The Belgian queen consort wore a structure blue coat, complete with long sleeves a flowing skirt element and cinched waist with a belt to create silhouette definition. The Meer Couture coat was the basis for Queen Mathilde’s wintery monochrome look, which featured even more pieces in the shade of blue.

Along with her Meer Couture coat, Queen Mathilde wore a pair of Jimmy Choo pointed-toe suede heels with her daytime event attire, as well as a statement Fabienne Delvigne headband, crafted in navy silk velvet and adorned with delicate leaves created in velvet felt, per the brand.

Other pieces that accentuated Queen Mathilde’s monochrome attire included a navy scarf and matching gloves. She also carried a small Dior clutch. As for jewelry pieces, the Belgian queen consort wore a pair of pearl drop earrings, bracelets and a Rolex watch.

Founded by Said Meer, the designer was appointed as a Belgian royal warrant holder in November 2020, meaning the couturier designs specific pieces with the Belgian royal family, particularly Queen Mathilde, in mind.

Since his appointment as a Belgian royal warrant holder, Meer has designed pieces for Queen Mathilde from formal gowns to daytime dresses and more. The Belgian queen consort is also an admirer of Belgium-based label Natan Couture, often wearing designs for public royal outings and special occasions.

Monochrome styling is a favorite among several royals. On Thursday, Kate Middleton of the U.K. put together her own monochrome maroon moment, wearing a suit by Roland Mouret with coordinated blouse by Me+Em, among other elements.
