Queen Letizia of Spain showed her love of Spanish-made with a visit to the Pedro García factory in Elda on Thursday, culminating a year of centennial celebrations for the luxury brand.

The royal family member toured the offices of the family-owned brand founded in 1925 and, alongside the Garcìa family, visited the production line where she could observe the craftsmanship behind the shoes. She was also gifted the commemorative book “Seasons: A Journey Through Spain with Pedro García.”
Creative director Pedro García III, grandson of the brand’s founder, said, “It is a great honor for our entire family to welcome Her Majesty the Queen to our home, where it all began a century ago and where the Pedro García project continues to thrive. We see it as a recognition of the craftsmanship passed down through generations, the innovation applied to our trade, and Pedro García’s commitment to the highest quality materials, tradition, and local manufacturing.”

Queen Letizia fittingly dressed up for the occasion in the brand’s Xantia knee-high boot in black, made from vegetable-tanned calf leather using a traditional, environmentally respectful technique ensuring the leather is metal-free and 100 percent biodegradable.
In addition to wearing styles from the brand on many occasions, including the silk satin, Swarovski crystal-embellished Gala sandal, Queen Letizia presented Pedro García with the Premio Nacional de la Moda honor in the Footwear category back in 2020, an award given by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism in recognition of the label’s trajectory, quality and dedication to “Made in Spain.”

Queen Letizia left a congratulatory message in the brand’s guestbook: “To everyone who has made it possible for Pedro García to celebrate 100 years in shoemaking in Elda. All of you who work throughout the value chain of this industry, you are the architects and responsible of the high quality, innovation, and artisanal tradition of Elda footwear. My warmest congratulations and best wishes on this first centenary!”
As previously reported by FN, Pedro García’s 100th anniversary celebrations commenced in 2025 with a range of endeavors including a special capsule collection called Essentia, in-store pop-ins, the aforementioned commemorative book and a series of exclusive events. The brand’s team also traveled to four Nordstrom stores to present the collection and the book, and visited other stores as well.
Queen Letizia is known to support made-in-Spain brands with her footwear choices. She often wears styles from Magrit for example, including kitten heel pumps, boots and slingback pumps.
