The next edition of the Public Safety Drone Review, a free monthly webcast co-hosted by DRONERESPONDERS and DRONELIFE, will take place on Tuesday, November 4 at 3 p.m. EST. The event is open to everyone interested in learning how drones are being used to enhance community and responder safety.
Hosts Miriam McNabb, Editor of DRONELIFE, Charles Werner, Director of DRONERESPONDERS, and Tim Martin, DRONERESPONDERS Advisory Board Member and Director of UAS Training at the Regional Training Center, will lead the conversation. Each month, the Public Safety Drone Review highlights the most important developments in drone technology, regulation, and operations for public safety professionals.
The first half of the program covers current news and policy updates from around the country that affect public safety drone programs. The second half insights from the field as our guest shares real-world experience and lessons learned from operating a drone unit.
This month’s guest is Sergeant Chris Boss of the Milwaukee Police Department’s Airborne Assessment Team. Sergeant Boss has been instrumental in developing the department’s UAS program, which supports tactical response, crash reconstruction, and search-and-rescue missions. The Airborne Assessment Team was designed to improve officer safety and provide rapid situational awareness during complex incidents.
Under Sergeant Boss’s leadership, the team has expanded its operational reach while maintaining strong transparency measures. “More time, more distance – you could save lives, not just your own, you could save a life of a citizen,” Boss told the Milwaukee Common Council earlier this year.
During the webcast, Sergeant Boss will discuss how Milwaukee’s drone operations are integrated into daily law enforcement activities, the policies that guide their work, and what’s ahead for expanding UAS use in urban public safety.
Register here to join the live conversation, ask questions during the Q&A, and hear directly from the people shaping the future of drones in public safety.
