Kate Middleton and Prince William took to their official social media accounts on Wednesday to commemorate their son Prince Louis‘ seventh birthday. The Prince and Princess of Wales and Kensington Palace shared a new portrait of the seven-year-old and video of the young royal, as well.
In the portrait, Prince Louis smiles and poses in an outdoor setting, surrounded by green foliage and blossoming flowers. The newly minted seven-year-old wore casual, layered attire ideal for spring temperatures in England.
Prince Louis wore indigo blue jeans with a white and blue checkered button-down shirt and an olive green pullover sweater by Scandinavian brand Seeland.
“Wishing Prince Louis a very happy 7th birthday,” the Prince and Princess of Wales’ caption to their birthday post read. The portrait of Prince Louis was captured by photographer Josh Shinner.
Along with the portrait, the Prince and Princess of Wales and Kensington Palace released a video of Prince Louis frolicking in nature for his birthday. “Seven today,” the caption read.
The new portrait and video of Prince Louis marks a slight departure from previous commemorative birthday posts for the Prince and Princess of Wales’ children, including Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9.
Last year, Kate Middleton served as the photographer for Prince Louis’ sixth birthday portrait. In the photo, Louis smiled brightly at the camera and wore a button-down Trotters Oliver shirt in camel check. The shirt featured a checkered pattern with lines of light blue and faded mustard yellow running across the fabric.
Prior to his seventh birthday, Prince Louis seemingly showed his own aptitude for photography. The youngest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton captured a photo of his mother in the woods to commemorate World Cancer Day on Feb. 3.
