Presidents Cup: Kevin Kisner predicts Russell Henley’s sensational play

Kevin Kisner is one of Team USA’s assistant captains, and he provided a brilliant thread on social media during the middle of the first session at the Presidents Cup.

He predicted Russell Henley would get hot down the stretch during his match with Scottie Scheffler, and the former Georgia Bulldog did just that. Henley made a pair of birdies on the 14th and 15th holes, moments after Kisner made his prediction on social media. He and Scheffler then defeated Tom Kim and Sungjae Im, 3 & 2, securing Team USA’s second point of the day.

“My boy Russ about to start knocking them down,” Kisner wrote on X.

Riggs from Barstool’s ForePlay podcast responded to Kisner and said he had a beer for him.

When Kisner found Riggs, the creator did not have a beer, so what did the assistant captain do? He told the world about it and threw Riggs under the bus.

While Kisner called Riggs a weirdo, it was a joke as they are friends.

Meanwhile, Henley’s hot streak began after Kisner did not receive his desired beverage. The Presidents Cup rookie made his aforementioned back-to-back birdies to help secure Team USA’s second point. Their match was much closer than the score indicated, but those two moments really helped the Americans get the job done.

After Henley made his birdie on 14, Kisner took to X again.

His final post regarding Henley came when he made his second straight birdie at 15. The match ended a few minutes later on the 16th green.

“Momma, there goes that man again,” Kisner wrote.

It is excellent for fan interaction to see an assistant captain live tweet and predict what one of the players will do, especially when it is someone like Kisner. Most of the time, being on social media during the event is not normal, but since Kisner is one of a kind, it felt completely on-brand for him to do this.

Kisner’s personality is perfect for team events like the Presidents Cup, so it is good to see him able to be himself.

Team USA and the International Team kept the five matches tight throughout the day, but as the session progressed, the Americans pulled away. Tony Finau and Xander Schauffele scored the first point, and Scheffler and Henley quickly followed with the second. Team USA leads 5-0 after day one.
