Pregnant Rihanna Wows at Cannes in Blue Alaia Peekaboo Bump Dress

The rain may have clouded the skies over Cannes, but Rihanna arrived in a shade that suggested otherwise. Stepping onto the red carpet at the “Highest 2 Lowest” premiere Monday night, the singer and entrepreneur wore a sky-blue gown by Alaia while walking beneath an umbrella held by A$AP Rocky, who stars in the Spike Lee-directed film.

Her halter-style dress featured a twisted scarf neckline that draped across the chest and shoulders, while side cutouts — knotted on her left side— revealed her baby bump. She is currently expecting her third child with Rocky.

Rihanna completed the look with sky-blue strappy stiletto heels featuring an ankle strap, along with a matching structured clutch. Her accessories included high and fine jewelry by Boucheron, including diamond-encrusted earrings in butterfly and leaf motifs and multiple rings worn across both hands. Her hair was styled in a voluminous updo with a deep side bang, while her glam featured subtly smoky eyes and a nude lip lined in a darker shade.

Rihanna has a penchant for surprising pregnancy reveals. On the first Monday in May, she caught fans off guard at the Met Gala when she debuted her baby bump in a custom Marc Jacobs ensemble. The look combined various patterns and textures, putting a twist on menswear with a cropped jacket and a pinstriped skirt that trailed the floor. She completed the outfit with custom color-blocked black and white brogue heels by Amina Muaddi.

During the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, viewers speculated whether she was revealing her second pregnancy while performing in a jumpsuit and puffer coat. Afterward, Rihanna confirmed the news, sharing that she had only discovered her pregnancy shortly before the performance. “Here’s the thing. I did what I had to do, right? My jumper couldn’t zip up,” the Fenty Beauty founder told Access Hollywood at the time. “No one knew I was pregnant. “Highest 2 Lowest,” directed by Spike Lee, is a modern reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 film High and Low. Set in contemporary New York, the film stars Denzel Washington as a music executive entangled in a kidnapping case. Rocky appears as Yung Felon, an aspiring rapper connected to the central plot.
