Pitti Taste, the trade show organized by Pitti Immagine presenting Italian food and wine specialists, took place at Fortezza da Basso in Florence from Saturday to Monday.
A total of 770 exhibitors took part at the 18th edition, visited by 8,483 local and international buyers, a 19 percent increase compared to the same edition last year.
Dubbed “Born Under the Sign of Taste,” the layout of this edition of Pitti Taste was reminiscent of a constellation, since it expanded with new areas and themes with a special focus on spirits and heroic wines.
Savory products such as oil, vinegar, cold cuts, pasta and cheese, among others, were presented in the central pavilion while the Cavaniglia pavilion hosted sweets such as chocolates, candies, coffee and pastries.
In addition, a large list of gastronomic events part of “FuoriDiTaste” animated the city.
Pitti Taste was open to the public, and total visitors numbered around 12,300.

The Spirits section expanded, with 34 exhibitors, including gin, vermouth and amari brands from all over Italy. This year’s novelty was the “heroic wines” section in which more than 20 labels were presented to celebrate Italian tradition and viticulture that is practiced in impervious areas, such as volcanic soils, deserts or iced lands. Some of the labels included were Bortolusso, Casale del Giglio, Azienda Agricola Toscani, Tenuta Stella and Vini Biagi.
As part of the “FuoriDiTaste” program, the Ferragamo Museum hosted a cocktail party at the Picteau Bistrot and Bar of Hotel Lungarno, with a special drink list inspired by Wanda and Salvatore Ferragamo’s recipes made during the 1920s while the founder of the brand lived in Hollywood.
Wanda’s recipes, found in her notes, were only for family occasions. The Picteau team revisited the recipes, including six drinks such as the Green, made with rum, St. Germain liqueur, fresh lime and mint from Salvatore’s list, and Love Potion no.9 made with vodka, mezcal, white melon and soda from Wanda’s notes.
