PGA Tour: How much Scottie Scheffler won in 2024, stacks up historically

Welcome to Playing Through’s new morning ritual: Golf Talk Today.

Each morning will feature a Golf Talk Today, in which the crew will discuss various elements of the PGA Tour, LIV Golf and other professional golf tournaments.

Today’s discussion is on Scottie Scheffler and the amount of money he has won since January 1, 2024. The last time we did this was after his Travelers Championship victory, giving him six wins on the season.

A few months later, he became the 2024 FedEx Cup champion after he took home the title at East Lake and received a hefty $25 million bonus check. He also won $8 million for finishing No. 1 on the Comcast Business Tour’s standings. Since that Traveler’s win in June, he won $34,531,499 and a Gold Medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Where does it stack up among single-season records and career all-time?

Scheffler’s money total from Jan. 1 to Sept. 1, 2024, is $62,228,357.

Granted, the $33 million in bonuses does not count towards his season-long earnings. Still, it is mind-blowing to know one man for $62.2 million in eight months.

This season was historical for Scheffler, and that is putting it lightly.

It was the year of Scheffler. He became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2007 to win at least seven times on the PGA Tour in one season. He also set the single-season scoring average at 68.10, the lowest of all time.

Let’s examine the money list and compare his $62.2 million to the rest of the PGA Tour and even historically.

2024 PGA Tour Money List (top 10)

*as of Sept. 1, 2024, and includes bonuses from Comcast Top 10 & FedEx Cup

1: Scottie Scheffler — $62,228,357
2: Xander Schauffele — $29,189,243
3: Collin Morikawa — $25,265,977
4: Sahith Theegala — $18,581,285
5: Rory McIlroy, $17,302,123
6: Wyndham Clark: $17,151,416
7: Hideki Matsuyama: $15,245,944
8: Ludvig Åberg: $13,923,857
9: Keegan Bradley: $7,539,455
10: Patrick Cantlay: $7,034,965

Combining Cantlay, Bradley, Åberg, Matsuyama, and Claark’searnings for the year still would not reach the amount of money Scheffler has won — they’re at $60,895,637, which is short $1,332,720 of the No. 1 ranked player.

PGA Tour Career Earnings:

*does not include bonuses

1: Tiger Woods: $120,999,166
2: Phil Mickelson: $96,644,310
3: Rory McIlroy: $90,130,223
4: Dustin Johnson: $75,466,806
5: Scottie Scheffler: $71,793,586
6: Jim Furyk: $71,507,269
7: Vijay Singh: $71,281,216
8: Adam Scott: $64,879,798
9: Justin Rose: $63,259,042
10: Jordan Spieth: $62,512,553

Scheffler turned pro in 2018. He currently sits No. 5 on the career-all-time list without including any bonus money he won in 2024.

If we included the $33 million in bonuses with his career earnings, Scheffler would have $104,793,586. He would be No. 2 behind Tiger Woods.

It is hard to understand that, in his sixth season on the PGA Tour, he is already inside the top five in career earnings. That feat should prove what kind of heater Scheffler had in 2024 because it was mind-numbing in all the right ways.
