Patrick Ta to Receive WWD’s International Beauty Innovator of the Year

Patrick Ta is being honored with WWD’s International Beauty Innovator of the Year, to be presented in Riyadh Thursday at the Saudi Fashion Awards & Gala Dinner.

The celebrity makeup artist has redefined modern glam, blending artistry with a skin-forward approach that emphasizes a radiant complexion. His products, formulated for a wide range of skin tones, translate professional makeup techniques into everyday essentials — while capturing the playful and empowering spirit at the heart of his namesake brand.

And it’s resonating with consumers.

The line was down the block at Patrick Ta Beauty’s first pop-up event in Los Angeles in early May, as fans flocked to the House of Glow, an immersive experience that brought the brand to life. (Ta boasts nearly 4 million followers on his personal Instagram, while the brand counts more than 1 million.)

“I’m known for super luminous, glowy skin, so I wanted my first collection to resemble that,” Ta told WWD when he launched the brand in 2019, with Avo and Rima Minasyan. “Women like my mom, my sister, my best girl friends are the ones who allowed me to be me. It was my goal to create products to empower women to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin.”

Ta unveiled a four-product range at the time that included body oils, lip glosses, highlighting mists and a setting fan (for the mist or contouring). He then entered retail partner Sephora just a day after launch.

He’s since expanded with more goods, including a foundation range and double cream-powder blush, and has grown his “glow” body line — all key areas of focus and significant drivers of the company’s business.

Ta began his career in Arizona, where he grew up and earned his GED degree, before moving to Los Angeles and building a celebrity clientele that included Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Shay Mitchell and Adriana Lima.

Using the women as muses, he gave life to his innovative releases, like his brow-shaping wax — which mimics lamination techniques for lifted and full brows — and showcased highlighting the body, not just the face, with his Major Glow Body Oil and Glow Balm. Across the collections, product names have a strong, empowering voice with titles like “She’s Bold” and “She’s Vibrant.”

“I’ve always believed that the body is just as important as the face when it comes to beauty,” Ta told WWD in March as he released an expansion of his body care collection. “When I’m working with my clients, I never let them step onto a red carpet without glowing, radiant skin. I always put a finishing glowy touch on the body, from décolletage to shoulders, it really completes the look.”

None other than Barbie — in a strategic and first collaboration — has also served as a muse for Ta, who partnered with Mattel on a new collection of makeup essentials inspired by the pink-driven world of Barbiecore.

“Gorgeous on all skin tones, we wanted this to be the perfect reminder to never shy away from what makes you unique,” Ta said of the launch in 2024. “Beauty is what allowed me to be myself and find my voice, and Barbie evokes such confidence in celebrating who you are, as you are.”
