Paris Hilton Teams Up with Vestiaire Collective to Help Relief Efforts After Los Angeles Wildfires

The Vestiaire Collective is rolling out its biggest celebrity closet sale with influencer and social advocate Paris Hilton that will benefit her nonprofit 11.11 Media Impact.

Nearly 100 of her pieces are up for grabs at Vestiaire, where net proceeds will go to 11:11 Media Impact to help support the relief efforts after last month’s wildfires in Los Angeles. Hilton is among those who lost her Malibu home in the Palisades fire on Jan. 7. As it was happening, Hilton posted a video of the blaze on ”X” and wrote, “Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience.”

The wildfires destroyed 16,240 homes and commercial properties in the Los Angeles area, according to a study conducted by the University of California at Los Angeles. Of those losses, 6,822 occurred in Malibu and the Pacific Palisades, due to the Palisades fires, and 9,418 more happened in Altadena, due to the Eaton fire.

As she watched her house burn, the hotel heiress and former star of “The Simple Life” said that members of her 11:11 Media Impact Team were “reaching out to nonprofit organizations to figure out how we can best support the communities impacted by these fires.”

Vestiaire Collective expects that the nearly 100 fashion items will sell out within days, according to a company spokeswoman. Should that happen, approximately $24,000 would be raised.

Shoppers will find one of Hilton’s Juicy Couture velour tracksuits — a signature look from her run on “The Simple Life” with Nicole Richie in the early 2000s. Other items from her closet include a $2,363 Takashi Murakami x Louis Vuitton bag, slogan T-shirts signed by Hilton, and bedazzled denim jackets with “Paris Hilton” embroidered on the back. There are also her minidresses from Mugler, Lanvin, Alexis and Self-Portrait, as well as accessories from Balenciaga and Versace. Hilton wore Self-Portrait when she advocated for the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act on Capitol Hill in December. Browsers and buyers alike can see how the 43-year-old mother of two’s style has changed through the years. (Richie went on to start her own clothing label House of Harlow.)

For Hilton’s sale, Max Mara is pitching in with one of its 101801 topcoats, which retails for $1,260 and is said to be a favorite style of Hilton’s. Pamella Roland has also lent a helping hand by providing a mid-length glitter dress, a style that Hilton has been photographed in.

This is the resale platform’s first collaboration with Hilton. Earlier this year after the fires struck Los Angeles, Vestiaire Collective linked up with jewelry designer Stephanie Gottlieb to raise money for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Vestiaire Collective has teamed up with other high-profile women for previous closet sales including the actresses Jessica Chastain to benefit Women for Women International, Laura Dern for a Planned Parenthood initiative, and Chloe Fineman to raise money for When We All Vote. The company also had an “Emily in Paris” shop last year that offered pre-worn designer styles that were inspired by and featured in the fourth season of the Netflix series.

Vestiaire Collective’s gross merchandise value — the number of sales — exceeds $1 billion and the average shopper spends about $395, according to a company spokesperson. The American market is now the company’s largest and it accounts for 20 percent of the overall business, she said.
