Software Achieves Major Milestone in Third-Party Integration

Palladyne AI Corp. (NASDAQ: PDYN and PDYNW) has reached a significant milestone with its Palladyne™️ Pilot AI software platform. In a recent demonstration, the software enabled a small drone from a third-party manufacturer to autonomously identify, prioritize, and track terrestrial targets. This achievement builds on prior tests and demonstrates Palladyne Pilot’s growing capabilities in the unmanned aerial systems (UAS) sector.

The software previously showed its ability to identify and prioritize targets on stationary nodes and hovering drones. Last week’s test flight marked the first successful integration with a third-party drone’s autopilot software, allowing autonomous navigation while tracking a designated target.

Advancing Small Drone Capabilities

Dr. Denis Garagic, co-founder and CTO of Palladyne AI, emphasized the potential impact of the technology. “Our first autonomous flight with Palladyne Pilot was able to track and follow a target, successfully demonstrating how powerful our AI platform can be by automating those functions where algorithms and machines excel, while still leaving ultimate control in the hands of humans,” said Dr. Garagic.

The company expects to commercialize the platform by the end of the first quarter of 2025. According to Dr. Garagic, “small, economical drones will finally offer some of the same intelligence capabilities that larger, multi-million-dollar unmanned systems have had for years.”

About Palladyne Pilot

Palladyne Pilot is an AI software platform designed to enhance the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The software enables autonomous target tracking, dynamic collaboration, and enhanced situational awareness. It reduces the operational burden while improving mission effectiveness for defense and military operations.

The platform’s development stems from contracts with the U.S. Air Force, reflecting its focus on collaborative sensing for small drones. Palladyne Pilot complements the company’s other technology offerings, such as Palladyne IQ.

Looking Ahead

With this milestone, Palladyne AI continues to push the boundaries of small drone technology. As the company approaches commercialization, its platform promises to deliver advanced AI-driven capabilities at a lower cost. These developments could reshape how small drones are used in defense and industrial applications.
