New FAA approvals expand drone capabilities with operations over people and moving vehicles, without the need of visual observers.
Daytona Beach, FL – August, 2024 – Censys Technologies, a leader in BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) solutions, proudly announces the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval of an expansive waiver. This waiver allows operations over people (OOP) and moving vehicles (OOMV), with Sentaero 5, an eVTOL fixed-wing drone, marking unparallel permissions that significantly expand widen operational
scope for UAS operators across the United States.
The newly granted waivers significantly enhances Sentaero operators capacity, allowing the UAS to fly in areas whereith people and moving vehicles may be present (sustained flight over people not allowed yet!), moving vehicles and to cross roadways where moving vehicles may be present, which is not a standard permission for UAS operators without a waiver. This advancement enables more comprehensive, effective and efficient data collection processes operators to collect data on in previously restricted in
limited exposure areas, facilitating more comprehensive, effective and efficient data collection processes where ground risk is manageable.
“Operating drones over people and moving vehicles without the need for visual observers brings into view urban infrastructure intelligence and a pathway for expansion.” “The ability to operate drones over people and moving vehicles without the need for visual observers is a game-changer,” said Trevor Perrott, CEO and Co-Founder of Censys Technologies. “First, I applaud the leadership from our phenomenal customers that brought this capability to civil airspace alongside Censys and the FAA.
This is a huge milestone toward minimizing human risk in aviation and maximizing asset intelligence. The exciting part of this story is what follows; we enter the climb phase of flight. This approval not only expands the geographical areas where drones can be utilized but also increases the efficiency and capabilities of our operators, paving the way for broader and more innovative applications.”
The approval of this waiver underscores Censys Technologies’ dedication to innovation and safety in UAS BVLOS operations.
