Omarion Hampton start or sit: Week 3 fantasy football advice

The Los Angeles Chargers have decided that Justin Herbert is good enough to break away from the Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman playbook of running defenses into the ground. That has some to do with the Rashawn Slater injury, but so far this is a pass-first team and they aren’t passing to the running backs so far. That is bad news for our man Omarion Hampton, but there’s plenty of bad news to go around for the rookie back.

Hampton has yet to show signs of his obvious talent from college and Najee Harris saw an uptick in snaps and work in Week 2. Thankfully, Hampton still has the important jobs for fantasy, which are goal line back and passing down back. As long as he’s still getting that, his upside remains high in what has been a strong offense so far.

Below, we’ll go over Omarion Hampton’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 3.

Fantasy Football analysis: Chargers, RB, Omarion Hampton

Through two games Hampton has 23 carries for 72 yards and has caught 3-of-4 targets for 12 yards. Those aren’t the best numbers for your respective fantasy teams. Hampton’s matchup this week is tough as well. The Broncos defense is full of studs and they’re currently fifth-best in EPA allowed per rushing attempt. They did however have a lot of trouble with the Colts’ Jonathan Taylor, who went for over 215 total yards and a touchdown against them last week.

Start. Hampton will get things going and as long as he is getting the important snaps, it will be tough to bench him. Of course, if he continues to not be productive he could start to lose some of those snaps. It’s a tricky balance to navigate, but I don’t see Harbaugh and company giving up on their first round pick that easily.
