Nikola Jokic absolutely went off on Tuesday night. On the surface this isn’t anything new, but finishing the game with 61 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, all while shooting 62 percent from the field and 54 percent from three — that’s something else entirely.
Jokic’s absolute dominance was on full display in the highest scoring individual NBA game this season, and he turned Rudy Gobert into French toast. His full game highlights need to be watched by anyone doubts that Joker is one of the most special talents the NBA has ever seen.
The Timberwolves weren’t able to stop Jokic’s dominance. In fact, only one man was capable of ruining Nikola’s night — and teammate Russell Westbrook came through in the clutch.
There are so many times that a player is blamed unfairly when something is a team loss, however you’ll never anything quite like this in 17.7 seconds of play. The Nuggets do everything to force a turnover when they’re up by one point, and the ball goes to Westbrook for the easy layup, which is inexplicably misses. Okay, bad shots happen.
Then the Nuggets lock down the Wolves again taking away their key weapons and forcing the final shot to Nickeil Alexander-Walker, a career 39 percent shooter from beyond the arc, and not someone known for taking pressure shots. All Westbrook needed to do was contest the thing and it was likely game over. Instead he fouled on the shot, sent Alexander-Walker to the line for three shots, where he hit two and they lost.
Peyton Watson’s face says it all, really.

Westbrook has had an amazing season for the Nuggets, but this was a tough ending. This has to be one the most ludicrous game of the season, and one of the most preposterous finishes ever.
