The Nike LeBron 23 is the biggest exercise of storytelling in LeBron James‘ signature line. Each of the 23 colorways, with most still to be revealed, harken back to a specific moment from his career. The sneaker’s launch colorway commemorates James becoming the first NBA player to surpass 40,000 points, and subsequent editions have called back to his first signature shoe, his time on the Miami Heat, and him playing with his son in the NBA.
Joining the mix soon will be the Nike LeBron 23 “From This Point Forward,” a tribute to the famous Sports Illustrated cover featuring James when he was just 17 years old. The headline for that story was “Chosen One,” which would go on to inspire his “Chosen 1” back tattoo. That tattoo is now replicated as a gold badge on the shoe’s mustache, and the upper opts for a white and green color scheme that matches the St. Vincent–St. Mary High School uniforms.
Just two images of the sneaker have leaked at this point, but a more thorough look at the shoe will likely reveal additional considered details.
On the performance front, the LeBron 23 is the first sneaker from James’ line to feature a full-length ZoomX drop-in midsole. Along with that comes a containment system shaped like James’ crown logo, carbon fiber shank, traction pattern incorporating the number 23 and an engineered knit upper with soft lining.
