Building off the legacy of the Air Foamposite One, Nike’s GT Future has brought a modern take on molded uppers. The rippled, single-piece upper takes center stage, tucking away a full-length Air Zoom Strobel and forefoot Air Zoom unit within the Cushlon 3.0 foam carrier. Just three colorways of the sneaker dropped in 2025, only one of them being made widely available, and a new look has been tipped off for 2026 via a leak.
The Nike GT Future “Grand Purple” features a paint-splatter graphic across its upper. White speckles dot the purple mold, while a gradient sole unit runs through blue, purple and pink. A reflective finish gives the entire upper a different look when hit with light, as well as a nebula-like look for the otherwise pink Swooshes.
Previous reports with the sneaker’s SKU suggested the sneaker would replicate the iconic “Galaxy” colorway from the Air Foamposite One. The treatment does bear similarity in colors, but the connection is best seen in the Swooshes under light as a subtle nod.
Nike first unveiled the GT Future during NBA All-Star Weekend in February, and the shoe got its first release with just 300 pairs of the “Fire” edition made available to attendees of a youth basketball tournament in New York City over the summer. Wale then got a collaboration exclusive to select Foot Locker locations in December, which was quickly followed up by the first wide launch in “Metallic Silver.”
The Nike GT Future “Grand Purple” hasn’t yet been confirmed with a release date, but it’s expected to drop at some point in 2026. Pricing is set at $200.
