After appearing in a purple splatter colorway that some likened to Nike’s iconic Air Foamposite One Galaxy print, the brand’s new GT Future basketball sneaker is getting a full-on Milky Way makeover.
Nike designer Frank Cooke shared Saturday a first look at a new Nike GT Future in a “Galaxy Aura” colorway. The new pair isn’t a one-to-one remake of the Air Foamposite One’s look, which featured a swirling mix of blues and purples. Instead, the GT Future blends green and orange shades with the pattern’s signature starry graphics. Like the Air Foamposite One, the upcoming GT Future appears to feature a glow-in-the-dark rubber outsole.
Another surprise came Saturday on Fortnite’s item shop, where the unreleased GT Future Galaxy Aura was added as a purchasable in-game item alongside a skin of Nike’s Swooshman character.
Nike’s Galaxy colorway was introduced with the Air Foamposite One release during NBA All-Star Weekend 2012 in Orlando. The space theme extended to signature sneakers belonging to players including Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant, but it’s the Air Foamposite One that has had the strongest legacy of the group.

For All-Star Weekend in 2025, Nike reissued the Galaxy Air Foamposite One for the first time. And before that, in 2018, the brand issued another spin on the theme: the Air Foamposite One “Big Bang,” which is sometimes called “Nebula” or Alternate Galaxy.
As for the GT Future, the model also has an All-Star Weekend history. The pair debuted at the event in ’25, where it was worn by Nike NIL athlete AJ Dybansta and rapper Wale, the latter of which received his own GT Future collaboration in December.
Cooke’s early look didn’t include release details, but the GT Future Galaxy Aura is expected to arrive at retail this summer for a retail price of $200.
