Nike Air Max 95 OG Big Bubble Leather ‘Black’ Release Date IM0696-001

Now that many of the fan-favorite original gray gradient styles have been reissued, Nike is exploring new material makeups for its remastered Air Max 95 OG Big Bubble sneaker. 

One recently surfaced pair completely flips the synthetic suedes and mesh traditionally seen on the Air Max 95 for a full-leather construction. The upper of the luxe black look is built with a smooth black leather including the lace loops, tongue and the heel tab. The leather is perforated on the top strip to mimic the look of the Air Max 95’s typical mesh material, while debossed Swoosh logos are stamped at the ankle and heel. Nike did not go as far as to put leather shoelaces in the shoe, which instead comes with a waxed cotton pair, but it’s possible an alternate set could be included.

Fans of the Air Max 95 may remember previous looks which resemble the upcoming leather iteration. In 2001, Nike issued an all-black, Italian-made Air Max 95 Lux alongside other elevated models such as the Air Force 1 and Air Trainer SC High. The Lux ’01 release later served as the reference for a 2019 Supreme collaboration which included made in Italy leather styles in black, blue and red.

The Air Max 95 OG Big Bubble has been one of the most popular sneaker reissues of 2025. For the model’s 30th anniversary, Nike focused on refining details of the Air Max 95 in order to make it more closely resemble the look and feel of the 1995 original. The results were well-received, with Footwear News 2025 Person of the Year winner Ronnie Fieg writing on X in April that the remastered shoe was a “big win” for Nike.

Given its stealthy look and rugged build, this Air Max 95 OG Big Bubble would be well-suited for the winter weather, but an exact release date has not been confirmed. What we do know is that the Black/Black/Black colorway will arrive soon from nike.com and select Nike Sportswear retailers with a style code of IM0696-001.
