As the World Cup draws more near, the picture of Nike‘s sneaker rotation for the tournament is growing more clear this week.
The Nike Air Max 95 “England” caters to fans of the Three Lions with a tasteful arrangement on the sneaker with Big Bubble construction. Much like the national team’s typical home kits, the sneaker is rendered almost entirely in white. A single one of the wavy stripes appears in metallic silver hosting a red Swoosh, and the latter color rears its head again on the visible Air Max units and eyelet loops. Additional pops of metallic silver run down the middle of the tongue and heel, and the national team’s badge sits on the tongue with a single gold star to denote its World Cup victory in 1996.
Setting aside English fans’ propensity for forecasting doom and the squad’s history of heartbreak, the team will be considered one of the favorites to capture glory at this year’s World Cup. A much longer shot will be the United States, which is a fellow Nike team and just had an Air Force 1 Low surface this week. Nike is also making a Mexico-themed AF1 to go with it, albeit without any official marks because the squad is with Adidas.
Without any national affiliations at all will also be a forthcoming duo of Air Max 90s separately merging the aesthetics of the classic runner with the Total 90 Laser and Hypervenom Phantom 1. They leaked this week, too, and together the recent revelations are still likely just scratching the surface of the Swoosh’s World Cup drops.
The Nike Air Max 95 “England” will release March 23 through Nike’s website. Pricing is set at $190.
