Three decades, three franchises and two sports are colliding for a capsule of Air Max sneakers, adding to the trend of soccer-derived hybrids.
The Nike Air Max 90 “Football Pack” sees the classic running shoe take on two distinct uppers, borrowing from the Total 90 Laser and Hypervenom Phantom 1. The Air Max 90 Total 90 Laser arrives after Nike revived the 2004 Total 90 3 as a sneaker last year, with the first few colorways selling out, while the Hypervenom Phantom 1 was just reissued in 2025 with ACG tech and a third-generation sole plate from the same franchise.
Moving to a later point in the Total 90’s run with the Laser boot from 2007, the Air Max 90 employs its raised T90 logo with concentric rings on the vamp and a translucent outsole with an X-ray view of a foot visible beneath. The rest of the sneaker features the familiar construction of the AM90 and comes in the Black Vibrant Yellow colorway from the boot’s original run.
No overlays appear on the upper of the Air Max 90 Hypervenom Phantom, which instead gets a dimpled surface with printed elements from both models involved, including a skull and crossbones beneath the medial collar. The Black Bright Citrus colorway is also famous for being the one Neymar wore in his debut match for Barcelona in 2013.
Running from 2013 to 2017, the Hypervenom franchise was a successor to the Total 90 series, which itself ran from 2000 to 2012.
The Nike Air Max 90 Total 90 Laser and Hypervenom Phantom 1 will both release May 21 through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing for both is set at $150.
