The first week of the NFL is in the books and so are our expert picks. In total our panel went 101-59 in the opening week, with our best picker finishing 12-4, with a median of 10-6 across the group.
In the end the majority of us fell into the same pitfalls in Week 1. Eight of our panel had the Dolphins beating the Colts, underestimating just how horrendous Miami would look out of the gate. Another big shocker were the Chiefs, who 9-of-10 picked to beat the Chargers. There is no doubt we all underestimated Jim Harbaugh’s team too much.
Now we move onto where things get interesting. You can always write off the first week to a degree as teams get settled and players try to knock off the rust. It’s here we should start to get a sense for how these teams can look as they settle into their regular season grind.
Our lock of the week is the Los Angeles Rams to easily handle the Tennessee Titans. That one is fairly self-explanatory, as the Rams should be a factor in the playoffs as long as Matthew Stafford remains healthy. As for the true toss-up in Week 2: That belongs to the horse fight between the Broncos and the Colts. Indianapolis showed a lot of fight in Week 1, while the Denver offense didn’t look convincing enough against the Titans.
Here are our picks for Week 2.
