Neuron is now open-source – sUAS News

We’re thrilled to share that Neuron’s entire software stack is now fully open-source under the MIT license. Anyone can freely access, modify, and build upon our code. This decision was made to foster greater interoperability, transparency, and innovation, encouraging everyone to integrate, contribute, and bring new ideas to life.

Neuron’s infrastructure, as deployed by 4dsky, has demonstrated significant benefits for aviation traffic displays (such as FIDs, DAA systems, and UTMs). Without traditional cloud infrastructure, providers have seen dramatic reductions in cost (up to 90%), latency (up to 50x lower), and complexity, leading to higher availability, improved safety and security, and simpler assurance processes.

With Neuron now open-source, any sensor manufacturer or traffic display provider can integrate directly, independently, and freely. This will help create a more comprehensive and open data landscape, allowing entire industries—starting with aviation—to break free from data silos and realize the full potential of interoperability.

Our open-source documentation can be found at docs.neuron.world. If you would like to learn more or get involved, please get in touch!
