Nelly Korda came out firing on Friday at the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open and has herself firmly in position to fight for her third major championship over the weekend.
It was an eventful morning for the number one player in the world, one that was contextualized as such after her round came to a close. Consider that Korda turned in a score of 67 which was the best round she has ever carded as the U.S. Women’s Open.
Even more amazing regarding Korda’s performance is that as she sat in the top 5 following her round… it was the first time in the U.S. Women’s Open that this had ever been the case for her. Yes, you are understanding this correctly. Prior to Friday, Nelly Korda never finished any round in the U.S. Women’s Open inside of the top 5.
It was clearly an eventful day for Korda, but one that she obviously is hoping to build on as the weekend unfolds. If her career track record in general is any indication… she will certainly be able to.
