Korean drone AI company Nearthlab, a leading drone AI company, has been awarded Silver at the 2025 Edison Awards in the category of Autonomous Security Solutions, under the broader theme of “Autonomous World & Hyperconnectivity.” The recognition was given for KAiDEN, Nearthlab’s advanced high-speed autonomous drone designed for real-time threat detection and aerial interception.
According to Nearthlab’s press release, the Edison Awards, established in 1987 to honor the legacy of inventor Thomas Edison, are among the world’s most prestigious accolades for innovation. Each year, over 7,000 submissions are evaluated through a rigorous, months-long review process by a panel of industry experts, executives, and academics. This year’s ceremony, held on April 2–3 in Fort Myers, Florida, also celebrated NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang with a lifetime achievement award, spotlighting pioneering technologies with global impact.
KAiDEN, which was unveiled last year, is an AI-powered security drone solution that packs a serious punch. Designed to detect, hunt, and neutralize aerial threats in real time, KAiDEN, a ballistic drone that works by running full speed into threats with its specially designed frame, can make contact at speeds up to 150 mph using proprietary AI flight algorithms.
Its autonomous interception capabilities make it a perfect fit for national security and infrastructure protection in areas like airports, energy facilities, and industrial zones. A pre-cleared safe-crash zone is designed to minimize collateral damage, making the whole package a safety-conscious choice for aerial security.
“The rise of both intentional and unintentional airborne threats is a pressing challenge,” said Jay Choi, CEO of Nearthlab. “With KAIDEN, we’re bringing AI-powered autonomy into the realm of real-world security, enabling organizations to respond faster, smarter, and safer. This Edison Award validates our belief that autonomous safety is not just a technological achievement – it’s a societal necessity.”
With its high speed and powerful technology, KAiDEN presents a compelling option for secure environments where mistakes could be costly. More information on the KAiDEN system and Nearthlab is available here.
