Mytheresa Taps Imogen Kwok, Shantell Martin and Yuri Himuro for IWD

LONDON — To celebrate International Women’s Day on Saturday, Mytheresa has collaborated with three contemporary artists on artworks that amplify “strength, femininity and artistic expression,” the retailer said.

The artists in the project are the chef and food artist Imogen Kwok; artist Shantell Martin, and designer and artist Yuri Himuro.

Each one used the mimosa flower, which women traditionally give to one another on the day, as a central part of their artwork. 

Martin doodled on a yellow canvas, drawing women’s faces in an abstract style. His images show them huddled together to highlight the collective strength of womanhood.

Himuro produced an animation of a woman under a mimosa tree. She’s sitting on a green and yellow textile, which she later cuts with a pair of scissors to reveal the yellow flowers.

Kwok curated a nest-like seat using the yellow flower and invited her viewers to reflect on transformation.

She has become an industry favorite among luxury brands, where she curates foodscapes with a clean, and minimal, artistic approach.

Kwok has worked with Hermès on the launch of its Un Jardin à Cythère fragrance in London with different types of cheeses, vegetables and fruits.

The artwork is being unveiled as Mytheresa prepares to become a larger online group. As reported, the holding company is changing its name to reflect its growing and more diversified business as it finalizes the acquisition of Yoox Net-a-porter.  

Pending shareholder approval this month, Mytheresa’s holding will be called LuxExperience, and its ticker on the New York Stock Exchange will be changed to “LUXE.” Mytheresa will still exist as a retail brand within the wider group. 

Mytheresa said the new name reflects the company’s ambition to build “a leading, global, multibrand digital luxury group that creates communities for true luxury enthusiasts and desirability through unique digital and physical experiences.”
