Aside from the finest construction, royal wedding dresses are renowned for employing the best fashion designers and couture houses in the world. Often, the process takes time — a lot of time. For example, according to media reports, Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller spent more than 3,900 hours over a four-month period designing Meghan Markle’s wedding dress.
Here, WWD presents the most Googled royal wedding dresses. The list is ranked by the average number of monthly searches and the data was pulled from SEO software firm Ahrefs and commissioned by wedding photographers Carters Creative.
Kate Middleton’s wedding dress topped the list with 192,000 average monthly searches and was followed by Princess Diana with 67,200. In third was Meghan Markle with 31,200 searches.
“Kate Middleton’s wedding dress, designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, was a flawless blend of modern elegance with timeless tradition,” Carters Creative said in its ranking report. “The gown, which cost around 250,000 pounds ($316,800), featured a lace bodice with long sleeves, a deep V-neckline, and a full satin skirt with intricate lace appliqué detailing. This dress was a clear homage to the classic styles of royal weddings past, symbolizing the continuity of tradition within the British Royal Family, while its simplicity and refined design highlighted Kate’s refined contemporary taste.”
