Moose Knuckles Names Ludovico Bruno Global Creative Director

Recently appointed as the creative director of Moose Knuckles, Ludovico Bruno has the mission of expanding the Canadian outerwear brand into a global luxury lifestyle label. This move signals a significant shift for the brand, which has been known primarily for its urban, functional outerwear since its founding in 2009.

Bruno, the founder of Milan-based Mordecai and a former nearly decade-long contributor at Moncler, aims to redefine Moose Knuckles’ design language. “From a creative perspective, there’s like a blank space in the business of creating something that it can be like more versatile,” he told WWD at Moose Knuckles’ headquarters in New York City on Wednesday. His goal is to create a more versatile aesthetic that balances craftsmanship, modernity and authenticity, allowing the brand to be relevant across different markets and styles.

“When I design for Moose Knuckles, I always try to inject something that belong to the mountains into the city,” he said. “Our client has sort of a very natural, animal instinct that translates into the urban aspects. And I really believe in clothes that can tell the story. You can tell that I was in Aspen skiing and now I’m in New York. I was in Khevelle, in Cortina, and now I’m in Milan.”

The first step in Bruno’s vision is the fall 2026 collection, which marked his debut as Moose Knuckles’ global creative director. The collection feature sharper silhouettes, innovative materials and a stronger blend of luxury and functionality. He envisions a visual language that is unmistakably Moose Knuckles, yet adaptable to various climates and settings.

“I want to give the possibility to have something that can be purchased as a one piece and layer things up,” he said, commenting on “less puffy” designs in the collection. “As a consumer, when I try those jackets, and from an overall point of view, it looks bulky, and it’s heavy. The conversation was always about how can we make those jackets lighter? Because winters are not that rigid anymore, and if they are, it’s like for a very small amount of time.”

To accomplish lighter, layered pieces, Bruno advocated for a focus on technical innovation, using lightweight down and refined construction to produce garments suitable for transitional weather. This strategic direction is supported by Bruno’s collaboration with Raif Adelberg, who was appointed as design director. Adelberg, with decades of experience shaping Canadian fashion, will influence product construction, fit and materials.

Bruno also aims to continue with Moose Knuckles’ tradition of collaborations, but said he is seeking for partnerships “that really feels true and can bring the quality and the level of Moose Knuckles’ art.”
