Miss America Comes to Madison Avenue

Here she is — Miss America.

On Madison Avenue that is, not back on the beauty pageant stage.

Cassie Donegan, Miss America 2026, will flip the switch to turn on holiday lights draped over 100 trees on Madison Avenue between East 57th and East 86th streets on Tuesday at 5 p.m., spotlighting the 39th annual Miracle on Madison event scheduled for Dec. 6. The event benefits the Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center pediatric program, and occurs on Madison Avenue, also between 57th and 86th streets.

Donegan, the former Miss New York, was crowned Miss America on Sept. 7. On Tuesday, she will appear on Madison and 63rd Street surrounded by MSK officials, the beloved MSK Caring Canine therapy dogs, and the Madison Avenue holiday carolers. She’s expected to sing a holiday song.

During the Miracle on Madison event, for every purchase made at participating stores, 20 percent of sales, or up to $15,000 per store, will benefit MSK’s pediatric program. To make shopping easier and fun, stores will display their selections of “miracle” gifts and welcome customers with Madison Avenue hospitality, treats and special programming. Shoppers can follow the blue and white balloons to shop in participating stores and businesses.

Those who unable to shop in person Dec. 6 but want to make a purchase to support The Society of MSK can call or email the retailer’s Miracle Personal Shopper, listed on the Madison Avenue BID website. Miracle on Madison is organized by the Madison Avenue BID and has become a New York holiday tradition, blending philanthropy for children in need with special in-store programming and street activities.
