Cutouts have quietly become the detail separating this season’s evening pumps from their more straightforward predecessors, and Mikey Madison leaned fully into the shift.
The Best Actress winner attended a post-screening celebration for “Weapons” at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on Monday night, wearing Aquazzura’s Sweet Surrender Cutout Pumps in mirrored gold, joining a growing run of celebrities who have turned to Aquazzura pumps with cutout detailing this winter.

The Sweet Surrender pumps feature a rounded almond toe wrapped in narrow mirrored-leather straps that form a cage-like cutout pattern across the vamp. Aquazzura’s signature swirling ankle strap curves upward from the sides of the shoe and fastens the 105mm heel with a slim buckle. The style retails for $1,015 and is also offered in a blue colorway that reads closer to seafoam green.

Madison paired the metallic pumps with a mauve Galliano-era Dior minidress — a fitting choice, considering she was named a global ambassador for the house in September. Her archival dress featured fine shoulder straps and a short, sheer hem. The bodice had Art Deco-inspired fan beading, with curved, radiating arcs layered over vertical rows of sequins that dripped down the lingerie-inspired babydoll silhouette. She draped a tan suede, fur-lined coat over the dress, accessorizing with a Manolo Blahnik leather top-handle bag and Tiffany & Co. Bird on a Rock Wings hoop earrings.

Aquazzura’s cutout pump family has logged several recent outings. Earlier the same day in New York, Daisy Ridley wore the label’s Very Bow Tie suede pumps while heading to “Live With Kelly and Mark.” That pair came in black suede with a pointed toe, high heel and an open side section framed by a knotted bow linking the vamp to the heel. A few days earlier, Taylor Swift chose Aquazzura’s Dangerous Liaisons Pump 105 in burgundy velvet for “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” a silhouette defined by side cutouts along the arch. At the start of the month, Amanda Seyfried turned to the brand’s metallic-woven Nina Plateau 130 sandals at the Gotham Awards, where interlaced straps formed a lattice upper over a substantial platform base.
Madison appears in “Weapons,” a 2025 supernatural horror film written and directed by “Barbarian” filmmaker Zach Cregger. Set in a small town shaken when 17 elementary school children vanish at 2:17 a.m., the story follows the lone child survivor, Alex, and his teacher, Justine Gandy, as suspicion closes in on them.
