Mike Evans, Emeka Egbuka injury update: How to handle the Buccaneers WRs vs. Lions in Week 7

The 5-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the 4-2 Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football as 5.5-point road underdogs. We’ve seen Baker Mayfield play at an MVP level this season, but he really could use his starting receivers in a matchup against the Lions elite offense.

Evans has been out since Week 3 and he hadn’t practiced until this week, while Egbuka suffered a hamstring injury last week and was unable to return to the game. Evans was able to get in a limited practice on Thursday and Saturday, with a planned rest day on Friday. Egbuka looked less likely to practice this week, as he was unable to go on Thursday or Friday, but did get in a limited practice on Saturday.

Both receivers are considered questionable heading into Monday Night Football.

Fantasy football analysis

Evans very much appears to be leaning toward being able to play, but we haven’t received any confirmation on that possibility. Egbuka, who most believed had little chance to play this week at least got the questionable tag, but seems less likely to play.

With Chris Godwin out with a fibula injury, whoever plays between Egbuka and Evans is a must start this week, and if they both play, both are starts. If I had to guess, Evans plays, while Egbuka sits. That would continue to elevate Sterling Shepard and Cade Otton. If they are both out, Tez Johnson and Kameron Johnson also get real bumps.
