When your son is considered by many to be one of the more contentious people in the world, certain media boundaries may apply.
That seemed to be the modus operandi for Maye Musk, who modeled in Friday’s Juzui fashion show at the Glasshouse in New York City. The 76-year-old white-haired model flew in just for this catwalk appearance during New York Fashion Week. While her elder son Elon, the Tesla founder, X owner and SpaceX founder and the Department of Government Efficiency’s head, sounds off on a range of subjects, Musk was all about controlling the narrative.
In advance of a potential backstage interview with Musk before her turn on the catwalk, her publicist said they would not address any questions about Elon Musk, President Donald Trump’s tariffs on China or anything political.
Maye Musk was making a repeat performance, having also closed Juzui’s NYFW show a year ago. Fittingly, (given the media boundaries) this year’s collection was named “Winter Blooms Whispering.” She had flown in for the Chinese-born designer Taoray Wang’s finale via Miami late Thursday night and was airborne-bound Friday night. Having worked in China, Musk, an author and licensed dietician and nutritionist, said after the show via an email from a spokesperson that she “deeply admires the efficiency and politeness of the Chinese people. I’ll be returning to China this year, and I am really looking forward to it!”
She was photographed chatting with Wang and Zheng Anzheng, chairman and president of the Anzheng Fashion Group Co Ltd. Musk praised Wang for being “so lovely and talented” and for the brand’s success. With a new book in the works and having shot a few fashion editorials, Musk said via email that she will be working on several international ventures and exploring new countries this year.
Trump’s younger daughter Tiffany could not attend Friday’s New York Fashion Week show, as she had in the past with her husband Michael Boulos and her mother Marla Maples. The first daughter and Boulos are expecting their first child this spring and were busy moving into a new house, the spokesperson said.
