Fresh off the box office success of his new movie “How to Train Your Dragon,” 17 year-old actor Mason Thames marked the occasion with a couple of firsts.
“This is my first time in Paris,” Thames said over the phone on Tuesday. “It’s probably one of my most favorite places I’ve been to. It’s less overstimulating than New York.”
“It’s been very calm,” he added of his time in the city. “I’ve been to a café every morning, had a croissant and a cup of coffee and walked around for a bit, tried to find some vintage shops, thrifted a bit. It’s been great.”
Thames was in town to attend his first fashion show, for Louis Vuitton.
“This is absolutely insane. This is still kind of surreal to me. I’m new to this world, but it’s all super exciting,” he said of attending the LV show. “So yeah, I’m looking forward to my first fashion show.”
For the show, Thames was keeping it simple and youthful in a pair of shorts and a zip-up jacket.
“It’s all black and I have this bag and some glasses. It’s just pretty cool,” he said of the look. “I’m very excited.”

The press has allowed him opportunities to experiment with fashion, be it a gray Thom Browne suit and cardigan look, a sparkly Gucci collared shirt for the film’s L.A. premiere or classic Celine for an appearance at Epic Universe.
“It changes all the time, but I kind of just love streetwear and there’s a lot of cool fashion brands that I’m into right now — a lot of Celine lately,” Thames said.
The live action remake of “How to Train Your Dragon” was released in theaters June 13 and has been a box office smash in the days since.
“I could talk about this movie for the rest of my life,” Thames said. “I love it, I love the cast, I love the fan base, and the fact the movie’s finally out is really strange, and it was very nerve-wracking. I’ve never been part of something like this, so I had no clue what to expect. But it’s all very exciting.”
After the fashion pit stop in Paris, he heads to Norway, New York and L.A., all for promotion of the movie. Ahead, the actor will be seen in “Regretting You” with Dave Franco and Allison Williams, “Black Phone 2” and the Green Day movie “New Years Rev.”
“I’m very excited,” he said.
