PARIS — French flavor and fragrance supplier Mane Group has acquired Belgian biotech company ChemoSensoryx Biosciences.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium-based company is to help strengthen Mane’s scientific knowledge of how smells, tastes and sensations — such as freshness or spiciness — are perceived, the supplier said.
“With its unique know-how, ChemoSensoryx develops high throughput screening methodology on the whole repertoire of olfactory, taste and trigeminal human receptors,” Mane said in a statement. “This running technology platform offers innovative solutions in the discovery and optimization of active ingredients able to modulate these human sensory receptors, enabling the development of advanced sensory solutions for the flavor and fragrance industries.”
Mane added: “By combining Mane’s expertise with ChemoSensoryx’s advanced research, Mane will create more innovative and precise flavor and fragrance solutions, strengthening its ability to deliver unique sensory experiences that consumers love.”
The group said its capabilities are expected to be enhanced by ChemoSensoryx’s technology platform in odor control and proprietary Blooming technologies, taste modulation research, olfactory reception modulation and trigeminal receptor modulation.
Mane, which is based in Le Bar-sur-Loup, in southeastern France, is wholly family owned. It ranks first in France and in the top five globally in the fragrance and flavor sector, according to the company.
