Madison Avenue Staging Fragrance Week

Fragrance Week on Madison Avenue” kicks off Saturday — the second day of spring — and runs through March 27.

The annual event, organized by the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District and The Fragrance Foundation, includes retailers situated within the B.I.D.’s geography, which stretches from 57th to 86th Streets along Madison Avenue, and adjacent side streets. The fragrance brands and retailers will offer an array of sensory and olfactory experiences during the week.

“The Fragrance Foundation is thrilled to partner with the Madison Avenue BID for a second year in a row to officially kick off Fragrance Week here in New York City with our first ‘fragrance tour,’” said Linda G. Levy, president of The Fragrance Foundation. “Madison Avenue’s landmark stores are the perfect backdrops for discovering the artistry and creativity of fragrance. Fragrance as an art form will be celebrated amidst the architectural accents found within the fragrance and fashion boutiques along the 26-block district where fragrance enthusiasts will be invited to experience and explore.”

Organizers encourage registering in advance for two free “Art of Fragrance” expert-led tours on Saturday, 12:30 to 2 p.m. and 2:30 to 4 p.m. Levy and Tiff Benson, founder of the Fragrance Society, will be on hand to discuss the perfumes. There will also be opportunities to sample many of the world’s best-known scents and fragrances being launched on Madison Avenue in fragrance stores and fashion flagships.

Stores participating in Fragrance Week include Aesop, Agnès b., Baobob Collection, Bond No. 9, Creed, Diptyque, D.S. & Durga, Granada, LoveShackFancy, L’Occitane, Montblanc, Frédéric Malle, La Maison Valmont, Parfums de Marly, Fueguia 1833, Vera Wang and Violet Gray.

“Celebrating International Fragrance Day has become a beloved tradition on Madison Avenue, and a major moment for our retailers to unveil their newest collections,” said Matthew Bauer, president of the Madison Avenue B.I.D. “We are honored to partner with The Fragrance Foundation, whose stewardship of the experience of scent deeply benefits both those creating fragrance, and those whose enjoy the craft of fragrance as an integral and meaningful part of their lives.”
