Lupita Nyong’o, Saoirse Ronan, Ryan Destiny, and More Wear Red Trend

Yesterday there was a common theme on the red carpet at Deadline’s 2024 Contenders Film: Los Angeles: red looks for fall. When celebrities walked the red carpet, a handful did so in one of the season’s biggest colors.

Saoirse Ronan opted for a bright red sleeveless dress with a pleat at the middle. Meanwhile Lupita Nyong’o wore two red dresses: a knit burgundy bodycon midi dress and a red sleeveless shift dress with a wavy fringe hem.

Burgundy was a popular choice with Ryan Destiny opting for a monochromatic look in the deep red shade. Destiny, who stars in “The Fire Inside,” paired a burgundy leather pencil skirt with a matching leather jacket, surplice top, and pointed-toe heels.

Mikey Madison also went with a burgundy monochromatic look, wearing Ferragamo resort 2025. The “Anora” star chose a pencil skirt and knitted top with cutouts at the shoulders, and paired them both with pointed-toe heels.

Red and all of its variants was one of the breakout colors from fall 2024, with labels such as Bottega Veneta, Ferragamo, Victoria Beckham, and Issey Miyake putting forth interpretations of it on the runway. In March, Laura Larbalestier, fashion director at Harvey Nichols, told WWD, “red has to be the predominant color of the season and was seen in nearly every collection.” That sentiment was echoed by Alix Morabito from Galeries Lafayette, who told WWD, “Red is without a doubt this season’s staple, whether it be in bright flashes or total looks.”

The color was also a breakout trend at this year’s MTV VMAs, with stars such as Halsey, Halle Bailey, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Angela Simmons, and Jessie Murph wearing red ensembles.

When it comes to accessories red has also been trending, notably merlot, mahogany, bordeaux, and burgundy bags. For fall 2024, the runways were full of red bags from Chanel, Ferragamo,  Dries Van Noten, and Louis Vuitton.
