Lucy Liu Wows in Zuhair Murad for ‘Red One’ Berlin Premiere

Lucy Liu drew runway inspiration for her look at the “Red One” premiere in Berlin on Sunday. The Stuart Weitzman global ambassador attended the red carpet event with her fellow cast members for the holiday film in Europe.

For the occasion, Liu chose a piece from Zuhair Murad‘s fall 2024 couture collection. The ornate black gown showcased a mermaid silhouette, with a slim-fitting skirt that flared into a long, dramatic train behind the “Charlie’s Angels” alum.

The most striking element of Liu’s black velvet gown was the sculptural looped net detailing on the crystal-encrusted bodice. The appliqué evoked a firework, with curved lines intertwining and shimmering details at its center.

Along with the captivating gown, Liu wore Tamara Mellon shoes and Roxanne Assoulin jewelry. Her hair, styled by Enzo Angileri, was pulled back into a tight chignon with floral details. Her makeup featured a subtle pop of color with a rosy lip. Liu’s red carpet look was curated by stylist Sarah Slutsky Tooley, known for collaborating with Rachel Zegler and Jessica Williams.

Zuhair Murad’s fall 2024 couture collection made its debut during Paris Fashion Week last June. “Zuhair Murad sought to offer an outlet for his heroine’s inner torment this season, translating emotion like a burst of anger in his glittering silhouettes,” Alex Wynne reported of the collection for WWD.

“Jagged shard-like adornments were scattered across his designs like a cry for help, while embroideries burst forth like explosions, their chaos delivering drama to the silhouette.”

Backstage at the show, Murad described the silhouette for several of the designs as “structured, more strong, edgier, sexier,” adding, “We have a huge history from thousands of couturiers, they gave us an encyclopedia of techniques. What we are doing now is to develop this in a modern way to meet with our world.”
