Chuckyy: âHear My Chainsâ
Good news: The Armageddon beats that reenergized Philly street rap have made their way over to Chicago drill. One big fan is Chuckyy, the motor-mouthed Lil Durk protege who seems to pick exclusively eerie instrumentals that could have been on the soundtrack of The Omen. On âHear My Chains,â debuted on one of the most bizarre YouTube freestyle shows yet where a rapper performs into a Ring security camera, the beat is composed of ominous church bells, stuttering Michigan-style drums, and the sound of rattling chains that feel like windchimes on a stormy night. Meanwhile, Chuckyyâs congested voice and ahead-of-the-beat flow only make his macabre raps that much more sinister. Itâs a 1:20 jump scare.
