Latto Sits Courtside in Gladiator Heels After Pregnancy Reveal

Latto kept her “Big Mama” energy sky-high on Saturday night, wearing Vivienne Westwood’s brown croc-embossed Carrie sandals to the Hawks-Warriors game in Atlanta, bringing a heavier, buckled take to her recent run of strappy heels a day after revealing her pregnancy and her fourth studio album “Big Mama.”

The sandals, which appear to be from Vivienne Westwood’s spring 2014 collection, pushed the look. Westwood’s Carrie style came in a glossy reddish-brown animal embossing with a thick platform sole, a high slim heel and a square open toe. Narrow straps crossed the toes and upper foot, then continued into a ladder of buckled bands that wrapped the ankle and climbed over the bunched hem of her jeans. The hardware stayed visible from nearly every angle: small square buckles, rounded metal loops and a darker brown welt that gave the shoe more weight than a standard barely-there sandal.

Gladiator sandals first surged in popularity the mid-to-late 2000s, with Chanel’s resort 2007 show helping push the look into the mainstream, before returning on spring 2024 runways. Westwood has its own longer history with the idea: the house’s current Roman Three-Strap sandal traces back to an archival style first seen in Spring 1982 collection.

That extra hardware mattered. Latto has spent the past year rotating through sharper, more exposed heel shapes, including Roberto Cavalli’s snake-front sandals and Dsquared2’s thigh-high Riri heels at the 2025 MTV VMAs, then minimalist black pointed heels at the NikeSkims launch last September. The Carrie sandal kept the same leg-lengthening line but traded delicacy for structure, with a denser cage of straps and a platform base that read tougher than her recent sandal choices.

The rapper paired the sandals with a brown leather coat, a white cropped tank that revealed her baby bump, and loose, light-wash jeans cuffed at the hem, with the gladiator straps buckled over the ankles. She finished the courtside look with oversized amber-tinted shades.

The appearance landed one day after Latto announced that she is pregnant with her first child and unveiled “Big Mama,” her fourth studio album. She revealed the news on the album cover and in the video for “Business & Personal (Intro),” which arrived March 20. “Big Mama” is scheduled for release on May 29.
