Lady Amelia Spencer styled a look reminiscent of one of her late aunt’s most iconic dresses for the 2024 Fashion Awards in London on Monday. The British socialite wore a black off-the-shoulder gown evocative of Princess Diana‘s memorable 1994 “revenge dress.”
Lady Amelia’s slim-fitting, floor-length dress featured detailed beading along the trim of the neckline and a plunging silhouette. The number was courtesy of Pamella Roland’s resort 2025 collection.
Lady Amelia accessorized her formal attire with sparkling silver jewelry, including a statement necklace and complementary earrings. She also wore rings and a delicate bracelet to complete her sartorial statement for the annual high-fashion event.
The Pamella Roland dress featured similar design qualities to the “revenge dress” worn by the late Princess Diana for an event at the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens on June 29, 1994, in London.
Diana’s black silk dress was designed by Christina Stambolian. It featured a short hemline above the knee, along with a dramatic off-the-shoulder neckline. The dress included a black chiffon mini train for an added element of theatricality.
The frock was dubbed the “revenge dress” by the British media following the late British royal family member’s appearance at the Serpentine Gallery. She wore the dress following her husband, then-Prince Charles, admission of cheating during their 15-year marriage.
The Fashion Awards is an annual fundraising event hosted by the British Fashion Council. The 2024 edition of the event features such categories as Model of the Year, British Menswear Designer, British Womenswear Designer and Designer of the Year — John Galliano, Jonathan Anderson and Miuccia Prada are among six designers competing in the Designer of the Year category.
