Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season is upon us and the action continue on Sunday with the Washington Commanders heading out west to meet the Los Angeles Chargers at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
The Chargers are undefeated no more as they took their first loss of the season last Sunday in a 21-18 road setback against the Giants. Wide receiver Ladd McConkey was a virtual non-factor in the loss and it capped what was a disappointing first month of the season for him on the fantasy front.
Below, we’ll go over McConkey’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 5.
Fantasy Football analysis: Chargers WR Ladd McConkey
McConkey caught just one of six targets for 11 yards in last Sunday’s loss to the Giants, marking the lowest single-game output of his young NFL career. Entering the year as the No. 11 receiver in ADP, the second-year wideout from Georgia has been one of the bigger disappointments in football so far this season with an average of less than nine points per game in all scoring formats.
His lack of production can easily be attributed to both the breakout season Quentin Johnston is having and Keenan Allen’s return to the team, pushing him down the ladder as L.A.‘s third receiver option this year. That explains why he has just an 18.62% target share despite running the third-most routes in the entire league. We’ll see if Justin Herbert will look his way more as the month of October unfurls.

Start. The Commanders have had a below average pass defense through four games as they are one of 10 teams to have already given up 1,000 passing yards along with seven touchdowns. McConkey managers should give him one more chance to prove himself as a viable starter and if he underperforms again this week, then it will be time to abandon ship.
