Kipling Introduces ‘Harry Potter’-themed Bags with Hogwarts Houses

Kipling cast a magic spell on its forthcoming collection of bags. The Belgium brand created a new line of “Harry Potter”-inspired bags featuring Hogwarts house emblems embossed on the fabric of their classic silhouettes and designs. The collection is available on Kipling’s official site on Aug. 16.

The “Harry Potter” collection takes classic styles from the Belgium brand’s house and adds the sigils of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin in metallic “Magical Black” print. The collection features classic styles, including the Seoul backpack, Gabby S. crossbody bag, Creativity pouches and more.

Along with the new collection of bags, Kipling also features its iconic monkey keychain collectible in multicolor designs with a scarf, which features the hues of each Hogwarts house in a striped style.

While certain classically designed Kipling bags gravitate toward the “Magical Black” print with shadowy Hogwarts house sigils included on the checkered designs, there are color motifs of each house featured on Kipling pouches.

Kipling was founded in 1987 by designer Xavier Kegels, Paul Van De Velde and Vincent Haverbeke. The Antwerp-based brand expanded to North America in 1989. By 2004, Kipling became a subsidiary of VF Corporation after broadening its global presence.

In 2023, Kipling capitalized on the “Barbie” movie, directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, with a collection of “Barbie”-inspired bags. Other collaborations include “Hello Kitty” and Illumination’s “Minions.”

The “Harry Potter” property, which boasts a series of young adult novels, a film series adaptation, theme park, merchandise, forthcoming Max TV series and more, has been utilized by various brands for years. Within the past few years, Glamnetic press-on nails debuted a “Harry Potter” collection in September 2023, while Diff eyewear conjured a new collection in November 2021.
