Kia’s EVs are some of the best on the market right now, and the EV6 and EV9 are selling in record numbers for the automaker. But the industry is in a tumultuous place, especially for electric cars, so automakers are looking for any way to juice up sales. Kia’s latest solution is a conquest deal to get Tesla owners into its EVs.
CarsDirect reports that throughout the month of September, Kia is offering two national incentives on the EV6 and EV9. Called the Tesla Competitive Bonus Program, it puts $1,000 on the hood of the EV6 and $1,500 on the hood of the EV9 for Tesla owners. As CarsDirect points out, buyers can combine this with existing offers, meaning you can potentially score up to $9,000 off sticker on either one of the EVs.
For instance, shoppers looking to get into a Kia EV9 will find that the electric midsize SUV is also available with a $7,500 Customer Cash deal. Thanks to the new Tesla Competitive Bonus Program, shoppers can get as much as $9,000 in combined savings when purchasing the EV9.
That’s sweet deal for sure, but it might not be enough to lure Tesla owners over, no matter how good the EV6 and EV9 are. Despite a sales slowdown, Tesla continues to blow other EV makers out of the water. As InsideEVs reports, Tesla sold an average of 50,000 vehicles a month earlier this year. Meanwhile, as of August, Kia has moved just over 28,000 EV6s and EV9s combined.
