Keira Knightley Serves Drama in Valentino Dress for ‘Jimmy Fallon’

Keira Knightley looked to the runway for inspiration for her look on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Monday in New York City. The Oscar-nominated actress chatted with the eponymous host about her new series “Black Doves,” for which she was recently nominated for a Golden Globe award.

Knightley opted for a look courtesy of Valentino‘s spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection. The long-sleeve midi dress featured a silk black fabric with sheer fabric elements at the hem of the dress’ skirt.

The bodice of the dress mimicked the skirt’s subtle embroidery, with glimmering elements added to the frock. A standout element of the dress, however, was the exaggerated collar, which featured a rounded design with embroidered orange flowers against the black fabric, creating a stark color contrast.

Knightley paired the dress with gold and black slingback heels and opted for minimal jewelry for her talk show appearance. Her bobbed hair was styled with natural waves and her makeup featured a clean aesthetic, save for a smokey eye and glossy lip.

Knightley’s “Tonight Show” attire made its runway debut during Paris Fashion Week last September. Designed by creative director Alessandro Michele, the spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection featured “echoes of the ‘70s and ‘80s touching on hippie chic, bourgeois classicism, and brand codes such as ruffles and the brand’s signature V logo,” Joelle Diderich wrote in WWD’s review of the show.

“New for spring was an emphasis on polka dots, a Valentino trademark that Michele had yet to mine,” Diderich wrote. Prior to joining Valentino, Michele was the creative director for Gucci from 2002 until 2022.

For the spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection, Michele merged his own sensibilities with signature elements of Valentino. “It’s a real house with a real owner, with his chair, his table. It’s like you are a guest, so you need to do a deep dive. I went through the things, all the little details, the ruffles, the bows, the polka dots, the colors, the embroideries, the embellishment, also the synthesis that he did in a very opulent way in just one dress,” Michele said.

Knightley’s “Black Doves” is now available on Netflix.
