Kay Flock, whose real name is Kevin Perez, was initially charged with first-degree murder in December 2021āhe was later found not guiltyāand was eventually named in a federal indictment on racketeering charges. He was also accused by the government of being a member of a gang called āSev Sideā or āDOA,ā in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx. Ahead of sentencing, the rapper’s attorneys claimed that their client could not be a gang leader due to his āintellectual disability,” a claim that U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman rejected.
Part of the city’s burgeoning drill movement, Kay Flock made headway in 2021 with his breakthrough single āBeing Honestā and debut mixtape, The D.O.A. Tape.
