Kate Middleton Rewears Her Viral Butter Yellow Dress for Garden Party

Kate Middleton styled a royal rewear for her attire at Buckingham Palace’s latest garden party on Tuesday in London. The Princess of Wales was joined by her husband of 14 years, Prince William, who greeted guests alongside his wife at the event.

Middleton wore a butter yellow midi dress with long sleeves courtesy of Emilia Wickstead, a New Zealand fashion designer based in London. The look featured a cinched waist with crisscross fabric draping detailing. Other details of the look included rounded shoulders and a flowing skirt.

Middleton complemented the dress with a pair of Gianvito Rossi suede pumps. She further accessorized with jewelry by Robinson Pelham, including earrings she wore on her wedding day. Middleton carried a small clutch by brand Forever New. The Princess of Wales’ look was made complete with a yellow fascinator by Philip Treacy, featuring a bouquet of florals.

Middleton previously styled this exact dress for another special occasion in June 2022. The senior British royal family member wore the Emilia Wickstead butter yellow dress for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations nearly three years ago. Middleton’s Platinum Jubilee look was the top-searched style according to data from fashion e-commerce aggregator Lovethesales analyst Hussain Ul-Haq.

Royal rewears are a staple of Kate Middleton’s wardrobe. Since she officially joined the British royal family in April 2011, the Princess of Wales has reworn several looks and recycled or reworked previously worn pieces to make them feel brand new.

Among her most notable rewears, Middleton famously reworked an Alexander McQueen dress for the 2023 BAFTAs. The Princess of Wales originally wore the dress for the same event in 2019. The 2023 iteration, however, featured new elements, including flowing draped fabric at the shoulder where floral appliqués once adorned the gown.

Other rewears styled by Middleton include a black and white Zara dress she wore in January 2025 that’s been part of her wardrobe since at least 2020. She’s also reworn designs by Jenny Packham, Catherine Walker and Elie Saab, among others.
