Kate Middleton made her return to public royal engagements on Thursday following the completion of her chemotherapy treatment. The Princess of Wales was joined by her husband Prince William for a visit to Southport Community Centre in Southport, England.
For the occasion, Kate opted for autumnal tones. The British royal family member wore a double-breasted chocolate coat by Alexander McQueen with sharp shoulders and lapels. Beneath the coat, the Princess of Wales continued her seasonal color motif.
The royal wore a burgundy midi dress by London-based brand Whistles with white polka dots and a lavallière element. She accessorized the autumnal ensemble with a pair of leaf-like Catherine Zoraida earrings. She completed the ensemble with chocolate suede heels.
Prior to this recent outing, the Princess of Wales rewore a Roland Mouret burgundy suit with similar autumnal inspiration. Kate wore the suit during her meeting with young photography enthusiast and cancer patient Liz Hatton.
The outing to Southport marks Kate’s first public appearance since the conclusion of her chemotherapy treatment, which she announced in September. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” the Princess of Wales said in a video directed by Will Warr.
“I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can,” she continued.
“Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling,” she added. “To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey — I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright.”
Since the disclosure of her cancer diagnosis last March, Kate’s sole public appearances have been to Trooping the Colour in June and the Gentleman’s Singles Championship Match during Wimbledon in July.
