Kate Middleton Favors Zara Plaid Dress for Children’s Hospice Visit

Kate Middleton made a solo journey to Wales on Thursday to spend time with children in the hospice center at Tŷ Hafan. The hospice center supports families in Wales and ensures that children with life-shortening conditions live fulfilling lives. The Princess of Wales‘ longtime focus as a senior member of the royal family has been on early childhood development.

For the special visit, the British royal family member opted for a staple dress in her royal wardrobe. Kate wore a Zara dress, which features a glen plaid print in black and white. The dress includes a flowing high collar with a tie and a V-neckline, as well as long sleeves.

The dress also features a removable self belt with a fabric-covered buckle for a defined silhouette. The Princess of Wales opted to keep her accessories simple for her visit, favoring a pair of dainty earrings to complete her look.

While visiting Tŷ Hafan, the royal spent a lot of time with children, crouching on their level to speak with them. The visit was reminiscent of Princess Diana’s special touch when spending time with children.

As for her attire for the special occasion, Kate’s dress is among her go-to pieces. The Zara dress has been part of the Princess of Wales’ royal wardrobe for years, dating back to an event in January 2020.

Five years ago, when she was still the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate and her husband, Prince William, visited the Khidmat Centre for which she styled the Zara dress. Kate also wore the black and white plaid frock for royal outings in October 2021 and April 2023.

The Princess of Wales has a penchant for rewearing pieces of her royal wardrobe, a staple style choice for the British royal. It’s a trend that’s rubbed off on other members of the British royal family. On Wednesday, Queen Camilla and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh each styled previously worn dresses from their wardrobe for a reception at Buckingham Palace.
